Privacy policy

Last updated

Listen Osho has no accounts, and most of what you do in the app stays on your device. This policy explains what is stored there, what usage analytics we collect, and which other services your device connects to when you listen.

Who we are

Listen Osho is an independent, open-source web and Android app for listening to Osho audio discourses. In this policy, "we" means the people who run Listen Osho. You can reach us through the Contact us page.

What stays on your device

The app keeps these in your browser's storage, or in the Android app's storage. The records themselves are never uploaded:

Some of the same activity, such as which talk is playing, is also counted in our usage analytics, described below. Clearing this site's data in your browser, or uninstalling the app, deletes everything stored on your device.

Usage analytics

To understand how the app is used and what to improve, the website uses two analytics services, PostHog and Google Analytics. PostHog receives:

Google Analytics receives the pages you open and how you interact with them, such as scrolling and following links out of the site, the same technical details, and your IP address, which it uses to estimate your approximate location. It does not receive listening events or session recordings.

Both services store a random identifier in a cookie (PostHog also uses local storage) so that visits from the same browser can be counted together. It is not linked to your name or email, because we never ask for them. We do not use analytics for advertising, and we do not sell any data.

PostHog processes this data on servers in the United States, under its own privacy policy. Google processes Google Analytics data under the Google privacy policy, and its servers may be outside your country. The Android app does not send usage analytics.

Services your device connects to

To play the discourses and show the library, your device loads files directly from other services. Like any website, they receive your IP address and basic request details, under their own privacy policies:

Cookies and similar storage

Listen Osho does not use advertising cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage, IndexedDB and cache to keep your settings, progress and downloads on your device. PostHog and Google Analytics set their own cookies on the website, and PostHog also uses a local storage entry, as described above.

Shared links

When you share a bookmark or a short, the link contains the talk and a position in it, and the message names the discourse. Nothing else about you is included.

Children

Listen Osho is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Your choices

You can delete everything the app stores on your device at any time by clearing this site's data or uninstalling the app. Your browser's tracking protection, or a content blocker, can block our analytics, and the app keeps working normally.

Because there are no accounts, we usually cannot tell which analytics belong to you. If you have a question about your data or would like it deleted, contact us and we will do what we can.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Listen Osho handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
